Hello, friends!
One of the things I’m frequently asked as a (VERY part-time) female Uber driver has to do with safety.
- Don’t you ever feel scared of your riders?
- What would you do if someone attacks you?
- There are scary people why are you doing that oh my gosh you’re gonna die.
Okay, that last one wasn’t a question, but it’s still something I hear more often than I would like.
Here’s the thing. Yes, there are scary people in the world. There are dangers out there and you can’t completely insulate yourself from every possible icky situation.
But you can take charge and do things to proactively keep yourself safe.
Which is where the company Damsel in Defense comes in.
Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, I’m about to introduce you to a company that is of the home-based variety and the consultant we’re connecting with is my mom. My real-life mom that I’ve known since I was born.
She got involved with this company, Damsel in Defense, several months ago. I haven’t jumped on board as a consultant because I just don’t have time and also I would much rather help my mom build her business.
Anyways, I’ve gotten to play with a lot of the products and this stuff is awesome. In fact, I own a few things that I purchased for myself. My mom DID give me a product for free, but that was for Christmas, so I don’t think it counts in the disclosure rules about sponsored posts, but just to be safe, yes. I got a Christmas present for my mom and now I’m writing about it.
So, I will try to stop digressing.
Here’s what I want to tell you about today.
Damsel in Defense.
It’s all about self defense and preparedness. There are self defense products such as kubatons, pepper spray and stun guns. Yup. Stun guns.
(I told my mom that on her tax return she should list her occupation as Arms Dealer.)
So, yeah, they have all kinds of things. Striking tools when someone is too close and trying to grab you. Pepper spray for when they’re still a safe distance away. Ooh, and the pepper spray (which goes up to 16 feet) also has a UV dye in it that shows up under blacklight for up to a week after it’s used. So if you use it on someone and he gets away and the police find him later, guess whaaaaaat… And then the stun guns. And let me tell you, just the noise of one is probably going to be enough to scare away most attackers and small dogs.
There are other great products too. Things to keep in your car and personal alarms when you don’t necessarily need to stop someone but you just want to chase them away. There’s some awesome stuff here that everyone should have in their life. And for those of you with kids in your life, there’s a fantastic line of books and things to help teach children about safety in practical ways.
So, we’re having a giveaway and I’m super excited!
At first we were going to give away a specific product, but some states hate safety and want you to die so they’ve banned self defense tools. I kid. Sort of. There really are some weird bans in some states, so you can check. I have a list somewhere, but I can’t find it right at this exact moment. But if you have a specific question, let me know and I’ll find out.
