It has probably escaped your attention because I keep it SO well hidden, but I’m pretty much a geek.
I know. I KNOW. You’re shocked.
But it’s true. I even took the Geek Test to prove it.
(I got Super Geek, btw.)
So when I found out Angie and Beth from Chaotic Goddess Swaps are putting together a swap just for geeks, I had to join in!
So just what am I a geek about? Well, here’s a partial list:
- Harry Potter
- Star Wars
- Lord of the Rings
- The Walking Dead
- Doctor Who
- Game of Thrones
- The Hunger Games
- Breaking Bad
- Star Trek (TNG, please)
I’ve been to:
- San Diego Comic Con
- Salt Lake City Comic Con
- A couple of locations where they filmed scenes from Harry Potter
And desperately want to go to:
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios
- The Lord of the Rings Tour in New Zealand
- Pinewood Studios in London
- Every MLB park in the US
- Middle Earth
Being a geek is a lot of fun. I’ve always liked being part of different fandoms. There’s something so exciting about doing crazy things. I have fond memories of going to midnight releases of each Lord of the Rings movies. And most of the Harry Potters, for that matter. I loved the midnight release party for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at Barnes and Noble.
When Star Wars: The Phantom Menace came out, I was on my mission in Canada and wasn’t allowed to go to the movies. It was a dark time in my life.
Anyway, the point of ALL of this is that Angie and Beth, via Chaotic Goddess Swaps, are hosting a Geekgasm Swap for Geeks. You know there is SOMETHING you get particularly geeky about. Sewing? Cats? Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes? Cary Grant movies? Outlander?
Well, this swap is for you.
Basically, you sign up at their Geekgasm Swap page, wait for confirmation, and then you’re in. And then you’ll be assigned a partner, as most swaps tend to work that way. And then you see what sort of geeky stuff they love and you buy them a couple of things (value of approximately $20-30 before shipping) and you’re all set.
The shipping part is happening toward the later middle part of July, so you have some time to think about it, comb the ThinkGeek website, and pick out the perfect gifts for your partner.
