You know you’ve thought about it too.
I mean, come on. One point five BILLION dollars?
I honestly can’t even imagine how much money that is. I really have no idea. I have no frame of reference for how much it is.
But I do know it’s a freaking lot.
I’ve never really been a Powerball ticket. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, I had never bought a ticket before. I felt kind of dorky buying my tickets like all the other people in line with me, but at the same time I kept thinking, “Someone has to win. Why not me?”
Anyway, of course I’ve been thinking a lot about what I would do.
And I would seriously give away a TON of that money. Seriously, think of how many lives you could change with that kind of money.
I’m not just talking about giving a million to my mother or a couple hundred thousand to my bestie or anything like that. I’m talking GIVING. Like, I would start a foundation and benefit a lot of people that need help. Because I know what it’s like to struggle even when you’re not technically poor. I know what it’s like to have to take a sick day from work because you don’t have the gas money to get there. I know what it’s like to eat cereal for dinner every night for a week because you couldn’t buy any other groceries.
So that’s a big part of what I would do with that money.
In addition, I would take a chunk of it and just spend ridiculous amounts of money on ridiculous things. Like this:
Yeah…that’s the house that inspired Pemberly from Pride and Prejudice…
I’d also buy some other ridiculous things. Like a private jet. A house at the beach. My own beach in the form of a private Caribbean island. A couple of crazy fancy cars. And season tickets for LIFE for the Angels and the 49ers.
But mostly, if I won the Powerball, I’d use it to change a lot of lives. I really would.
I normally find this song obnoxious and annoying, but they played it on the radio this morning to be funny and so I’m sharing it with you in the same spirit. It’s silly and fun to dream about.
So what would YOU do with a billion dollars?
