I professed my love to Ian Ziering on Friday afternoon.
This weekend was, of course, the Emmys!
(BIG, MAJOR shout outs to Kristin Chenoweth of Pushing Daisies and Michael Emerson of LOST for their much deserved Supporting Actor/Actress wins!)
As with every award show, there is a pre-show event where vendors of everything from sunglasses to Bumpits gather to bestow their bounties on the stars in the hopes of finding celebrity endorsements, product placement, and convincing the rest of the world to buy their product because Paris Hilton likes it.
I was there representing Bionic Products. Bionic Tonic and Lady Pink are two brand new energy drinks made from natural ingredients and containing NO sugar. It’s kind of a long and boring (to you) story of how I got involved with the company, but the important thing is that it led me to a fabulous two-day extravaganza in which I met a whole lot of famous (and wannabe famous) people and got in touch with some awesome new folks that might bring a few changes to this here blog.
(It’s a good thing, I promise!)
Who did I meet at this fabulous event?
None other than Captain James Tiberius Kirk himself:
He was very polite but seemed mostly disinterested in just about all of the free stuff. I guess when you’re working for Priceline and a bazillion-time Emmy award nominee, Hawaiian sea salt and coffee mug cozies aren’t that exciting. But whatever. He was very cool.
And then at some point a little later in the day, Ian Ziering showed up. I always thought Steve Sanders was the cutest one on Beverly Hills, 90210, even if he wasn’t the nicest. Anyway, I asked if I could get a picture with him and he said sure. As he put his arm around my shoulder for the picture, I blurted out, “I’ve loved you since high school.” It just came out. Before I could stop it. I don’t even know where it came from.
He smiled that cheesy, adorable grin and said, “You just made my day!”
And, of course, the lady taking the picture knew very little about how those new-fangled cameras work, so she didn’t realize that she totally ruined my moment by taking one of the worst pictures in the history of my life:
Here’s a little glimpse at some of the other awesome people I met this weekend. I’m sure you will probably recognize a few faces:
Middle: Ed Asner! He’s really funny and grouchy. And totally awesome.
Clockwise, starting in the upper left corner: Clifton Collins, Jr; Deidre Hall; Eric Martsolf; Ernest Borgnine; Richard Karn; Malcolm-Jamal Warner; Justin Guarini; Daniella Baltodano and Madison De la Garza; Field Cate; Shirley Jones; Warren Sapp; and James Kyson Lee.
There were a few others like Scott Baio, Shannon Elizabeth, some boy band called Wow! and a whole host of Disney Channel and Nickelodeon “stars.”
Yup. All those people and I got starstruck over Ian Ziering. ☺
It was tons of work but a LOT of fun.
And another cool part about it was that I got a whole bunch of swag. Word got out to a few of the vendors that I’m a blogger that likes to review and give away free stuff, so it looks like I’ll be gearing up to have a Pulsipher-style Mega Giveaway in the next few weeks! I’ll keep you posted.
I’m also going to have some new opportunities to write about some up-and-coming performers, movies, series, etc because I made some great contacts with a few publicists and agents.
Don’t worry. This place is still going to be all about me. I’m just going to have the chance to mix it up a bit more and I’m really excited about the possibilities!
So, who would YOU have liked to meet?
