I had such a fun weekend! Friday night, my friend Catherine and I drove to Costa Mesa to her fiance David’s, house. We hung out and ate the best English muffin pizzas I’ve ever had in my life, watched some Firefly (the cancellation of which was Fox TV’s biggest mistake ever), and then we went to sleep. On Saturday morning we all woke up and Catherine and David’s friend John came over. Then the four of us drove up to Chinatown to meet a couple of other people, Fabian and Marlus (sp??) for dim sum. We ate and ate and ate and had a great time. Then Marlus had to leave, but the remaining five of us wandered around Chinatown doing a little bit of shopping for David and Catherine’s wedding, which is Asian-themed. From Chinatown, we spent a half hour in the car driving two miles over to Little Tokyo, where we did some more shopping and ate some more. Finally, Fabian had to leave to get ready for a date, and John, David, Catherine, and I all went back to David’s house where we watched the end of The Two Towers, then another episode of Firefly. Catherine and I finally left pretty late, when it was clear that I was perilously close to being too tired to drive. It’s a good thing she was there to keep me awake!
This post would be so much better with pictures…Too bad none of us thought to bring a camera…
Oh well! Anyway, earlier in the week I got a call from the 2nd Counsellor in the Bishopric, asking if he could meet with me right away. I was worried because I finally like my Sunday School class and I didn’t want to be released. Well, I will be released as soon as they find a replacement for me, but as of yesterday I have two callings for the time being. Saturday night I got a message that my bishop was trying to get ahold of me, but by the time I got the message, it was too late to call him back. Yesterday morning, the Secretary called and said that the Bishop wanted to meet with me before church and could I be there in about thirty minutes. I rushed to finish getting ready and hurried over to the church where they were running seriously behind. But I went in and sat down with the Bishop, who only wanted to know if the 2nd Counsellor had talked to me. Don’t these guys ever talk to each other?? Anyway, so a few minutes later, Sacrament started and they reorganized the Young Women’s Presidency. I’m now the Second Counsellor. When they didn’t release me from Sunday School, I was a little surprised and figured that the Bishop had just forgotten. My class told me to just not tell anyone so that I could keep teaching them. (How nice is that?? I love those kids!) After church, when I was waiting to be set apart, I was talking to the 1st Counsellor in the bishopric and something came up about my not being released. That’s when he told me that they want me to keep teaching until they find someone else, but they try to avoid telling people that up front so that they don’t say no! How sad is that?
After church, Catherine and I went back to Costa Mesa for dinner at David’s house. John came over again, and David’s brother Devin was there with a girl that he’s dating. David cooked an awesome dinner and we hung out, watched a cool documentary about…Firely… and then went home.
It was such a fun weekend, but now I’m totally exhausted!
